6 days after CM, now Grievance Cell team visits GMC&H, collects ATR

JAMMU: The surprise visit of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to Government Medical College & Hospital Jammu on 30th November was just the beginning of her efforts to streamline the poor healthcare scenario of the State as today a team of CM’s Grievance Cell paid a visit to the hospital and reviewed the steps taken by the hospital administration in this regard.
Official sources informed The News Now that led by Imran Malik, Liaison Officer of Chief Minister’s Grievances Cell, the team visited the GMC&H Jammu and after half-an-hour Minister for Health, Bali Bhagat also reached the hospital and joined the team, which inspected all the works initiated after the visit of Chief Minister.
Flanked by the Minister, the team visited Emergency Ward, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), different Wards of the hospital, besides, also checked the lifts, they said, adding, the team also inspected Radiotherapy Ward, status of available ventilators etc.
“The visiting team got details of all patients admitted in the ICU,” sources said and added, “There was some infrastructural issue in the Radiotherapy Ward and team had complete appraisal on that.”
“We provided them a list containing details of all types of works done in the hospital besides others, which are underway,” they further added.
Regarding status of twin lifts, which were lying defunct for near about two-months, sources said, “One of the lifts has started operations, which is meant for patients only while the second one is all new, which will start functioning after near about 10 days.”
According to the sources, the CM’s Grievance Cell has prepared a schedule for its visit to various hospitals of Jammu city as well as District Hospitals of the region in the days to come.
Pertinently, it may be recalled here that Chief Minister had conducted a surprise inspection of GMC Hospital Jammu on 30th November and personally took stock of medical facilities, availability of medicines to patients and sanitation etc.
Showing her resentment over poor sanitation scenario in the hospital, Chief Minister had also ordered attachment of Medical Superintendent and since then, various steps were taken by the hospital administration.
