After Dengue, now Swine Flu spreads its tentacles

JAMMU: After dengue terror in the month of September and October, now in November the cases of H1N1 virus- Swine Flu- is creating panic among masses as seven deaths reported from Kashmir Valley have put authorities on their heels in state.
As per Health Officials till date, 10 cases of H1N1 virus have been reported positive in Jammu region, whereas in Kashmir total 16 cases are positive and at least seven of them also succumbed due to the disease in Kashmir.
"We have received some 103 cases and among them 10 were proved as positive and 93 were negative," said official sources and added that whereas in Kashmir the situation is serious, but now it is under control over all.
The official sources said that a total of 73 persons were screened for H1N1 from July to October this year and only 10 of them tested positive. Of them, three died in Jammu region while others were undergoing treatment.
About dengue, the official said a total of over 1400 patients were screened for the disease during the past five months. Of them, over 250 tested positive and maximum of them treated successful and now out of danger, whereas as few are still undergoing treatment.
In dengue Jammu district was on the top of the list, whereas in H1N1 virus in Kashmir maximum tested positive.
Reports said that seven unfortunate patients who have expired have co-morbidities primarily like malignancies, leukemia, COPD, immune compromised states which have further compounded the problem during treatment.
