Col Dhoni surprises students in Valley

JAMMU: It was winter's surprise gift for the students and faculty of Army Public School Srinagar who couldn't believe their eyes when attired in Olive Green, Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni landed to school premises in capacity as Lt Colonel (Honorary).
Sharing some lighter moment with the students, Lt Col (Hony) Dhoni while interacting with students emphasized the importance of education and sports during his interaction with the students.
It was an atypical ambiance at APS Srinagar when schooling was not boredom in class rooms but it was treasured memories for all students who were looking for autographs and keenly listening to memories of the 'Mahi' - the popular name of former Indian Skipper Mahinder Singh Dhoni.
Lt Col Dhoni also motivated them to play as much as sports they can as sports is best for their physical and mental health.
Pertinently as it was a surprised visit, army authorities or school administration has not issued any press release and it came to know from social media, later when contacted senior army officials in J&K confirmed the surprise visit of Lt Col Dhoni to valley.
A senior army officer posted in Northern Command said, "Dhoni was willing to visit some army school and want to meet students, following the situation in Kashmir, it was planned as a surprise visit only."
Dhoni, who holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel, visited the school located inside the Chinar Corps headquarters in the famous Badami Bagh Cantonment at a corner of Srinagar City in a low key and unannounced event on Wednesday.
The Chinar Corps put out a photograph of the former Indian Captain on its Twitter handle, which disclosed Dhoni's visit to media and former Indian Cricket Captain's fans in Kashmir.
Earlier, Indian cricket team captain Lt Col (Hony), Mohinder Singh Dhoni during his three day visit to different defence locations in J&K on June 2, 2012 has visited 16 Corps Headquarters to visit the forward areas of the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri sectors to interact and boot the morale of Indian army jawans.
