Srinagar, Nov 19: Refuting claims by ISIS that it carried out an attack on security forces in Srinagar on Friday, Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid on Sunday said that terrorist outfit has no imprints in Kashmir valley.

“It (the claim by ISIS) is yet to be verified. I don't think ISIS has any imprints here,” Dr Vaid said during a joint press conference by Army, CRPF and police held at headquarters of 15 crops in Badami Bagh cantonment here on Sunday.

One Sub-Inspector Imran Ahmad Tak was killed and a Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured in a militant attack on a police naka at Zakura in Srinagar on Friday. One militant, Mugees Ahmad Mir, was killed in the retaliatory action while another was caught alive.

The DGP further said that police successfully stopped 60 youth from joining militancy in the Kashmir valley this year.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Muneer Khan echoed the DGP comment on the presence of ISIS in the valley. “The DGP has already said that it is a subject matter of investigation because on one hand Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen claims that Mir was the district commander of their outfit and on the other hand ISIS is claiming that he was a member of their group,” Mr Khan, who was also the part of the joint press conference, said.

When asked if there was a possibility that ISIS actually carried out the Zakura attack, the IGP said the police has ruled out any such development in the valley. “We have ruled out that ISIS was behind Zakura attack,” he said.
