Downplays Farooq’s PoK remarks

JAMMU: Asserting that Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) being an integral part of India is a clear cut stand of Government of India (GOI) not Bharatiya Janta Party’s, Congress state president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that no need to give much importance to Farooq’s statement as it was his personal view.
Talking to The News Now, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, GA Mir said that when Central Government has appointed special representative or interlocutor on J&K, Dineshwar Sharma, he has to meet different stake holders and they all are having different modules and ideas on solution of Kashmir issues, what if Farooq Abdullah has given his opinion.
“There is no need to give so much importance to his statement, as we all know PoK is an integral part of India and it was decided through a resolution in Parliament in 1994 and it is Union Govt’s stand, but the BJP’s,” said Mir and cleared his party’s stand saying Congress always with the same stand.
Reminding BJP leadership about former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee’s statement, Mir said that when Vajpayee opens routes with PoK and held talks with Govt of Pakistan, he moved a step ahead what Farooq now saying.
“Though Farooq is famous to be in news always and he knows well what makes news, if goes by personal views, he is also a stake holder being president of a main opposition party and also a sitting MP. No need to give much hype to his views, as it is not final decision,” Mir added.
Targetting Centre as well as state government for mishandling Kashmir situation since last 3 years, GA Mir said that now BJP’s government at centre has done the same what Congress always said that to initiate talks with people. “Whenever there was turmoil or disturbance in Kashmir during tenure of previous government’s Congress initiated talks and BJP opposed, but now it is BJP, which appointed interlocutor for Kashmir and this is the way to solve problems, while listening the views of people on ground,” PCC president said.
On swearing in ceremony of Rahul Gandhi as Congress Chief, Mir said that a Working Committee will sit on Monday at New Delhi and final the electoral procedure and then intrested candidates will file nominations, but if nobody will file nomination against Rahul, then by Dec 15, Congress’s vice-president becomes next Congress national president.
