Drud peddlers arrested with poppy straw in Jammu
Jammu, Nov 19: Police have arrested two drug peddlers with contraband of poppy straw in this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Two drug peddlers were arrested late on Saturday night from Pacca Danga area," a police spokesman said here on Sunday.
He said police party was checking the vehicles on way from Srinagar to Jammu and one taxi was intercepted.
On searching the taxi, around 6.5 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the bag in possession of one Dharampal, resident of Nawashehar.
He was travelling with another drug peddler namely Majid Ahmad Dar and during his frisking, 3.5 Kg of poppy straw was recovered.
Majid is a native of village Tungdun, Kulgam.
A case under NDPS Act has been registered and investigation started.
