Militant, Army jawan killed in Kulgam encounter

Srinagar, Nov 14: One militant and an Army jawan were killed in an ongoing encounter, which ensued early on Tuesday morning at Qazigund in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.

A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) hideout was busted at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, where a
search operation is going on since early this morning.
Official sources told UNI that following specific information about the presence of militants, Rashtriya
Rifles, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at Naubugh in Qazigund in Kulgam district of south valley.
However, when the security forces were moving towards particular area, militants opened fire, they said.

Security forces also retaliated in an encounter. “One militant was killed and two jawans were injured in the encounter which was still going on when the reports last came in,” they said.

The injured were immediately taken to a hospital, where one of them succumbed.

They said encounter ensued when security forces conducted search operation at Lam forest area in Tral in Pulwama following information about presence of militants in the area.

A JeM hideout was busted in the area. “The search operation was still going on when the reports last came in,” they added.
