It not only takes tireless efforts but also the clarity to be an Empowered woman. But it is not as difficult as one might perceive from the heavily worded explanations and elaboration to the two words, ‘Empowered Woman’. ‘We The Women’ is elated to bring to you about the journey of another girl who is following her dreams and is being appreciated for her work and dedication. Isn’t that synonyms to an Empowered Woman? Without further Ado, let’s know who she is.

The girl who was awarded with the title of “The Most Promising Makeup Artist 2017” by AmishaPatel at the Millennium Brilliance Awards 2017, which took place at The Umrao, Gurgaon in last week of July, Kumud Goel, Director of Colour Spa Headmasters Pvt. Ltd. then, is not only a cosmetologist but also a business woman on rise.
Not only she has been awarded, among thousands of other participants, she has made her name among many more. With her persistent efforts and successful endeavor, Kumud has made a mark amongst the top most fresh makeup artists in the nation. Kumud has been doing Makeup for more than five years now and with her persistence and dedication towards her passion, she is now one of the best known artists around, belonging to the small but equally rare group of artists in the state to gain such name and fame.

But what is the story before and after this incident? Kumud Goel graduated from Punjab University in Bachelors of Business Administration and has degree in Masters of Business Administration in HR & Marketing from Jammu University. Though Kumud was immensely fixated at pursuing Business after school she had an eye of an artist; not only eye but hands as well, reveal in her abstract paintings. After finishing her study like most of us often find us in, Kumud was in dilemma of either pursuing for a job or start something on her own.

When the head could not answer, heart decided.
Kumud’s mom Bindu Goel is a Makeup artist. The spark of interest in beautification had ignited in Kumud at a very early age because of her mother; watching her mother exhibiting her work of art on faces induced nothing but awe in little Kumud. But the spark of becoming a cosmetologist caught fire after Kumud finished her studies. It was then that she decided to attain diploma in three year Advance course in Cosmetology & Beauty Care from Punjab University. Kumud wanted not only to be known as ‘Like mother like daughter’ but also ‘like father like daughter’. She realized that she not only has interest in art like her mother but also an inclination of becoming her own boss, like her father.

Kumud’s new centre of The Headmasters Wellness Zone at Janipur, Jammu, inaugurated in July this year, a venture in extension to her mother’s salon which is located in Trikuta Nagar. In Kumud’s word, her father, Ashu Goel, has been a constant support to her at home and in business, helping her catch the minute details of running a business.

“My father is my guide; his advices worth thousands bucks. For instance, he always used to tell me that there is huge difference between learning about Business in text books and learning about it through practical experiences. This even today reminds me to be open to learning more and more,” expresses Kumud.

These past four months of running a new-fangled business along with being a cosmetologist Kumud has been progressive despite of the challenges of setting up and establishing in the market. She believes that she has been graced with “The Most Promising Makeup of theYear 2017” award and it has certified her capability to herself more than anyone else.

“Being awarded was unexpected but also very significant because it shouted to me clearly that I can thrive being Cosmetologist and eternally recharged my passion,” says Kumud. Speaking about her salon, she exhibits poise and passion of a person who invests themselves more than any material investment into their venture, to create perfect medium of innovation and creation to make their business grow.

“I didn’t want to run merely a grooming clinic but a place for women to relax and find themselves as well as peace and hence the salon, spa, Medispa and slimming clinic,” explains Kumud.

Kumud’s professional and personal mantra is that if you meet fifteen people a day, at least try to learn five new things from them. She says, “Being into business, I come across people with different mindsets and expectations, understanding them and at the same time putting in diligent efforts are the key to build a long-lasting bond with your client, who would ultimately make your business flourish.”

Other than making ladies look their best on special occasions, especially on their big day- marriage, Kumud loves to paint and blog about it at FeeltheColours.wordpress.com; you can check out her work there. She also loves to bake every now and then. Despite being a makeup artist, Kumud loves to go Au Naturale, whenever she can.

“Makeup is not about getting a fake look but accentuating what you are. To look beautiful, it is not only important to know which attire and makeup look goes for which occasion but also follow a regime which suits you and would naturally replenish your natural beauty,” says Kumud.

According to Kumud, it is very important to look presentable in today’s time because we do not get second chances for impression all the time.
“Along with attire, it is essential that even your face and hair give out a neat and clean impression; eye-liner, kajal, light lipstick and dash of blush can make you look fresh,” advises Kumud.

She insists on washing face twice a day, using a toner, applying moisturizer as per your skin and season besides appropriate SPF along with taking healthy balanced diet and plenty of water are must to look your best. She also adds, “Many women who puts on makeup forgets to remove it at the end of the day and it is a self-deteriorating habit. Removing makeup before washing your face with a remover- be it by home-remedy or by any market product- is a must.”

And here’s a bonus tip for the ladies for winters, “Avoid direct heat, be it water or air, even the direct fumes in kitchen and apply serum to skin before going to sleep to retain skin moisturizer and control dryness. Also, avoid oily food,” says Kumud.

To every woman out there, Kumud's words are, “Do what you believe in and do it with complete dedication. Everyone must exercise their right to choose what they want in life. But at the same time be sensitive and responsible."
