Shoolini University to start course on climate change

University’s Vice Chancellor visits China; signs MoU with three countries

Shoolini University in Solan, Himachal Pradesh is shortly starting a diploma course on Disaster Management and Climate Change. The university has got in touch with National Institute of Disaster Management for course formulation and further implementation of the same.
Prof P.K. Khosla, Vice Chancellor of Shoolini University attended a conference on “Mountain Resources and Livelihoods in the Hindu Kush Himalayas: Higher Education Research and Regional Collaboration for Sustainable Mountain Development” in conjunction with the HUC Annual Meeting, 2017 in Sichuan University, Chengdu (China) recently.
The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) organized the said conference. During this visit, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Shoolini University has signed three more MoUs with (i) Kabul University, Afghanistan, (ii) Agriculture and Forestry University, Chitwan, Nepal and (ii) University of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
The University has previously signed MoUs with HUC Member University within SAARC region.
Shoolini University is a one of the Members of the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC).
Main theme of the Conference was water management in Hindu Kush Himalayan Region and environment conservation strategies for sustainable development. Shoolini University is also actively engaged in research on improving the livelihood of Himalayan population through one of the centres namely “Centre of Research on Himalayan Sustainability and Development” established in this University.
Shoolini University is committed to provide technical and academic expertise to the partner universities of HUC and as a part of that the university has extended four Scholarships to the partner universities in 2017 and students from Afghanistan and Nepal and currently undergoing degree programme in Shoolini University. This year, the University has announced 16 scholarships in M.Tech, M.Phil and Ph.D programme in different disciplines to the HUC partner universities.
