JAMMU: A day after she claimed in Srinagar that BJP's three years rule in Jammu and Kashmir has led the state to prosperity, party's Yuva Morcha Chief Poonam Mahajan on Monday urged the youth of Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Ladakh to come together and make the three regions of the state the 'golden triangle' of the country while addressing a youth convention in winter capital.
"There are three regions in Jammu and Kashmir and it is the responsibility of the youth workers of these regions to work together to make it a golden triangle," Mahajan said, asserting that India was passing through a golden era and youth of state are pivotal in its progress.
"Unless the youth of Jammu, Kashmir valley and Ladakh become a part of the movement, the India will not move forward. The youth is our power," she said.
Mahajan asked youth workers to work in different regions instead of concentrating only on their home regions.
"The youth of Jammu need to take the responsibility of Kashmir unit and work there and the youth of Ladakh should come to Jammu. Similarly, the youth of Kashmir should go to Leh to make the three regions a golden triangle," she said.
It will strengthen brotherhood, unity and communal harmony in the state and the stones in the hands of the youth will turn into flowers, she added.
Referring to her maiden visit to Srinagar, the BJYM chief said she was feeling happy as the youth are getting connected in a very good manner and the BJP flag was fluttering there as a result of the efforts of its youth wing.
"There was a time when we were stopped and put behind bars to stop us from unfurling the national flag in Srinagar's Lal Chowk. Today anyone can go there and unfurl the tricolour and it is the achievement of this government. It is a good change," she said referring to the BJP's 'Ekta Yatra' which was not allowed in the state in 2011.
She said the youth do not want to follow "negative politics" and want to connect with the development of the country.
"My Srinagar visit was beyond my expectations. Over 1,500 youth activists attended the convention which reflected the change. There were equal number of boys and girls and my meeting with various delegations including students continued throughout the day. There is a rapid and welcome change," she told reporters, terming her day-long stay as "not enough".
Mahajan said there were youth who wanted to connect.
"We paint everyone with same brush. There are youth who want to do good but there are some who are misled. But it is our duty to bring them back," she said.
Mahajan said that she will take 10 youth who had done "wonderful work" in Srinagar to Mumbai and ensure they meet film personalities.
