Sham for speeding up geo-tagging of all PHE installations in Jammu

JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today directed the Executive Engineers for speeding up the process of geo-tagging of all PHE installations in Jammu region. He further directed to improve infrastructure and working of Working Standards Laboratories in all the districts of the State, besides, to maintain cleanliness in and around PHE installations, taking up plantation drives regularly for increasing the green cover etc.The Minister also directed the Engineers to complete the work on Water Supply Schemes within the fixed deadlines.
Sham Choudhary issued directions while reviewing the physical and financial achievements of the department and Ravi-Tawi Irrigation Complex here at Jal Bhawan in Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, PHE A. K. Gandotra, Chief Engineer, I&FC P.N.Bali, Chief Engineer, Ravi-Tawi Irrigation Complex Rajeev Gandotra, Additional Secretary to Govt PHE, I&FC Department Ashok Kumar Sharma and other officers.
The meeting was informed that a total of 108 water supply schemes are being constructed in Jammu including 1 in City-I, 5 in City-II, 11 in Rural, 13 in Akhnoor, 8 in Samba, 18 in Kathua, 5 each in Udhampur and Dharmari, 8 each in Ramban and Kishtwar, 7 in Doda, 4 in Gandoh, 8 in Rajouri, 5 in Nowshera and 2 in Poonch.
The Minister directed to complete all the schemes by the end of this year.
The Minister directed the Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers to conduct administrative inspections on regular basis to maintain transparency and accountability in the functioning of the department.
The Minister further called for conducting advocacy workshops at all levels for creating awareness among the people about the benefits of saving water.
