Dengue Scare

JAMMU: The dengue scare continues to haunt jammuites as the tall claims of state government particularly the Health Department has utterly failed to aware people about adopting various preventive measures to control the spread of dengue and to treat the suspected dengue patients which is evident from the ever increasing number of dengue patients in the state.
So far, blood samples of 350 people have been tested positive for the vector-borne viral disease-dengue-with 297 cases registered alone from Jammu district.
As on October 21, blood samples of 2076 suspected patients have been sent for testing out of which 350 have been tested positive while 1544 blood samples have been tested negative and reports of remaining 182 blood samples is awaited.
“Of total 350 cases registered so far, 217 are male with 148 adults and 69 children while 133 are female with 86 adults and 47 children.”
According to epidemiologist, Dr J P Singh, highest 297 cases of dengue are registered from Jammu district, 14 from Kathua, 1 from Ramban, 15 from Samba, 3 from Poonch, 1 from Kishtwar and 6 each from Udhampur, Doda and Rajouri district and 1 from Kashmir region.”
Nodal officer further said, “As far as H1N1 is concerned, as on date, 76 suspected blood samples have been tested out of which 10 were confirmed positive, 66 negative.”
“Three people, one each from Jammu, Ramban and Rajouri district have died of H1N1 infection as on date,” Dr J B Singh told The News Now.
Sharing official statistics about the viral scare- H1N1, he added that there are 5 male and 5 female patients whose blood samples were confirmed to be positive for the viral infection.
“Of 5 male patients, 3 are adult and two children while there were 4 adult and 1 children among the patients affected with H1N1 virus, he added.
Highest 4 cases have been registered from Jammu district while 2 each cases were registered from Rajouri and Udhampur district. One case each has been reported from Kathua and Ramban district.
