Deputy CM celebrates Diwali with security forces

JAMMU, OCTOBER 20: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh celebrated Diwali with security forces at Border Outpost (BoP) Garkhal in Akhnoor sector along the Indo-Pak International Border (IB) on Thursday.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife Mamta Singh and other family members. Praising commitment of the soldiers towards protection of the borders, Dr Nirmal Singh said their presence on the frontiers ensures that countrymen celebrate the day peacefully.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while celebrating Diwali with the army and Border Security Force personnel lauded them for guarding and protecting the country while living away from their homes.
Dr Nirmal Singh interacted with the soldiers and distributed sweets among them.
“Every citizen of the country is proud of the security forces, who are guarding our borders and giving us peaceful nights,” he said.
He also said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the "welfare and the betterment" of the security personnel in every possible way.
Earlier, Dr Nirmal Singh paid tributes to the martyr soldiers who laid down their life while safeguarding the border.
Meanwhile, IG BSF Ram Awtar, gave a detailed briefing to the Deputy Chief Minister on the prevailing security scenario on Border, the measures undertaken by BSF to strengthen the border protection, threat perception existing on the IB and the existing border control & protection mechanism undertaken vis-à-vis the likely threats.
