MoS chib inaugurates the Paddy Procurement Centre at Palli in district Kathua.

Daljit Singh Chib (Minister of State ) Hon’ble Vice Chairman , J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans today inaugurated the Paddy Procurement Centre at Palli in district Kathua. Rajeev Jasrotia , MLA Kathua, Kuldeep Raj MLA Hiranagar, Kishor Kumar, General Manager Food Corporation of India, H.K. Razdan Director Agriculture, R.A Inqlabi Director CAPD Jammu, Rashpal Singh Incharge Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Scientists of KVK Kathua, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, SDAO Hiranagar, accompanied the Hon’ble Vice Chairman.

Speaking on the occasion, Daljit Singh Chib (MoS) , said that the procurement centres in the State are increasing in number every year and the facilities to farmers by various agencies and department are improving. He said that these procurement centres will help the farmers in selling their produce at the rates (Minimum Support Price) fixed by the Government which is increased by Govt this year and fixed at Rs 1550/- for Paddy “Common” and Rs 1590/- for Paddy “Grade A”. He said that earlier in absence of such centres farmer was forced to sell paddy at nominal rate of Rs 700 to Rs 800 per Quintal. . He also said that J&K State advisory Board for development of Kisans has advocated for permanent mandies for procurement which will permanently solve the problem of farmers for selling their produce. These procurement centres will ensure competition among private millers to give maximum rate to farmers by adopting fair practices hence benefitting the community at large. He urged upon the concerned agencies and departments to put best efforts so that farmers do not face any kind problem in selling their produce.

Speaking on the occasion MLA Kathua Sh Rajiv Jasrotia said that farmers of his constituency are benefitted by opening of Procurement centre. It has helped to increase his profit from paddy. He announced that he will provide Rs Five Lakh each for five Permanent Procurement centres for his constituency. Sh Kuldeep Raj MLA Hiranagar also expressed his satisfaction regarding benefits to farmers by opening of these procurement centres in his constituency.

All District Officers of Agriculture and allied departments , and large number of Progressive farmers of district Kathua were present on the occasion.
