JAMMU: Seven days after he was attached with office of the Director Information J&K upon the allegations of irrational distribution of Government advertisements among the print media for publication, the Joint Director Information, Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad Mir has been asked to resume his duties on Tuesday.
The state government on Tuesday revoked the attachment order which had resulted in an unprecedented information blackout for two days, after officials of Department of Information and Public Relations went on a strike post attachment of Mir, following a curiously 'certified' case of alleged irregularities in distribution of government advertisement to newspapers.
Tuesday's order read, "In continuation to an earlier order (39-ID of 2017), it is ordered that Mr Zahoor Ahmad Mir, KAS, attached with the office of the Director Information is hereby repatriated to his earlier position as Joint Director Information Kashmir."
The official order issued by the government further said the Director Information shall oversee the functioning of the advertisement wing, till further orders.
The attachment order has been revoked on the directions of the Minister for Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, to facilitate smooth functioning of the office of Joint Director Information Kashmir.
Earlier on October 10, an order of the GAD said, "In order to inquire into the allegations of irrational distribution of Government advertisements among the print media for publication, Director Information J&K is hereby nominated as the inquiry officer for the purpose. The inquiry officer shall conduct an inquiry in the matter and submit the report to the Administrative Department within a period of one week positively. In the meantime, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Mir, KAS, Joint Director Information, Kashmir shall remain attached with the office of the Director Information J&K, Srinagar. It is further ordered that Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Deputy Director Information (Hqrs) Directorate of Information shall look after the work of Advertisement wing and other routine work of the office of the Joint Director Information, Kashmir till further orders".
