BSF's goodwill gesture

JAMMU: It was a gesture that sets the best example of goodwill towards its adamant and confronting counterpart- Pakistan when Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday repatriated a Pakistani national within 12 hours of his detention inside Indian territory at Indo-Pak International Border in Suchetgarh Sector of Jammu district.
The Pak national- a 22 years old tailor- was not only repatriated hours later BSF authorities came to know that he had inadvertently crossed to this side last night during preliminary questioning but was was also presented with new garments and sweets, ahead of Diwali festivity.
The gesture assumes great significance displaying India's approach towards maintaining peace and tranquility along dividing line, despite the fact that Pakistan had violated ceasefire over 600 times this year, targetting Indian villages along IB and LoC and resulting into some odd fatalities and horrid memories.
DIG (G) Jammu Frontier, Dharmendra Pareek told the News Now that the Pak national, who was identified as Mohammad Raja Ali (22) son of Mehmood Ghosh of a bordering village of district Sialkot in Pakistan was detained by alert BSF troops near Octroi forward post in Suchetgarh sector on the last mid-night.
"During preliminary questioning by BSF troops about his identity and motive to enter this side of border, the Pak youth, who was not in good condition and was wearing a light brown colour Khan Suit and was bare footed, said, he was not aware of the fact that he had crossed the IB," he added.
"Earlier BSF has recovered Rs 370 from his possession during his personal frisking, BSF official said, adding, " the Pak national also told that he is working as a tailor with his father and after closing the shop on Monday late evening, instead of moving towards home landed here in India and was looking mentally disturbed."
After repeated sessions of questioning especially in the wake of strong inputs about infiltration during festive season, when BSF came to know that he was an innocent and entered Indian area unintentionally, then the officials contacted Pakistani Rangers in this regard.
"The Pak Rangers had cross checked the information provided by Indian counterparts and at around 1 pm today, BSF handed over the Pak national to Pak Rangers."
Once Pak confirmed his identity and agreed for his return, the BSGF troops displaying atypical goodwill gesture especially keeping in view the festivity of auspicious Diwali, gifted a brand new dress (Kurta Payjama), a pair of slippers and a packet of sweets to the Pak youth before he was repatriated from Suchetgarh Border Out Post (BOP).
It is worth mentioning here that during last Flag Meeting on Sep 29, 2017, BSF and Pak Rangers decided to maintain peace and prosperity at the IB and handle the petty issues with talks, but handshake had turned dirty as on the very next day on Sep 30, 2017, BSF detected an underground tunnel from Arnia sector coming towards Indian land and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition from it which is an indicator to what the neighbouring nation is bent upon - just to push armed intruders to this side to disturb the peace in state.
