Rape in moving car: 2 accused arrested, manhunt on for third

JAMMU: A day after a teenage girl was gang raped by three youth in a moving car in city outskirts, Police on Monday swung into action and conducted nocturnal raids at the residences of the accused persons in R S Pura, securing the arrest of the two while massive hunt to nab the third rapist was on till late evening.
Police sources said that acting on the compliant of the rape victim (name withheld) police conducted nocturnal raids and apprehended two of the accused while the hunt is on to apprehend the third accused who presently is absconding.
"The raids were conducted jointly by two teams of police include R S Pura Police and Gharota Police in the whereabouts of the rapists persons and secured the arrest of two," the police said.
The arrested include Sachin Kumar (19) son of Balkar Chand and Rahul Manhas (19), son of Satpaul Manhas both hailing from Badyal Kajjaian, R S Pura while the third accused have been identified namely as Ajay Kumar son of Jatinder Kumar of Ward 11, R S Pura who presently is absconding", said a senior police officer while talking to The News Now.
Wishing not to be quoted, the police officer said a case under FIR No 99/2017u/s 363/376/34RPC has been registered against the trio at Gharota Police Station.
Quoting the complainant, police said, "the complaint in this connection was lodged by the father of the girl namely Tarveer Singh son of Dhyan Singh of Bhalwal who alleged that his teenage daughter was abducted by the three youth who later committed rape upon her in a car."
Police said that the girl was called for job in Gandhi Nagar area by the accused persons from where they took her in their car and raped her after offering her a spiked drink.
After committing the crime, police said, the trio then threw the girl in R S Pura. Meanwhile some passersby on noticing a girl lying in unconscious condition immediately informed the local police. Police after conducting her medical examination handed over the girl to her parents.
