Have CCTV evidence that Hizbul Mujahideen behind bank robberies: IGP
Asserting that Hizbul Mujahideen was behind two bank robberies last week in south Kashmir, Inspector General of Police of Kashmir range Muneer Khan said police has CCTV evidence to prove that the militant outfit carried out the heists. “It is surprising that HM has denied that they carried out two bank robberies in south Kashmir last week. We have CCTV evidence that the militant outfit was responsible for the heists,” Mr Khan told reporters during a press conference here on Monday.
Giving details, he said a bank robbery took place on October 13 at Ratnipora in Pulwama. “Three militants barged into a J&K bank branch at Ratnipora and decamped with Rs 1.98 lakh on gunpoint,” he said. He said all the three militants behind the heist have been identified as Mohammad Abad Bhat, Ishfaq Thokar and Zubair Tury.
In another incident, he said two militants barged into J&K bank in Mirhama, Bijbihara in Anantnag on October 12 and decamped with over Rs 5.41 lakh. “After checking CCTV footage, two militants Rasik Nabi Bhat and Sallia Mohammad Akhoon, were found to be responsible for the robbery,” he said. Seeking support of the public to nab these militants, the IGP said the identity and the credentials of the people who given any information about their whereabouts will be kept secret.
