It will be raining 'jumlas' in Gujarat ahead of polls: Rahul

Ahead of the mega rally to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said on the eve of assembly polls, it would be raining 'jumlas' in the state. Taking to twitter, Mr Gandhi said,''Weather update: on the eve of polls, it will rain 'jumlas' in Gujarat today.'' The comments by the Congress vice-president come even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a mega rally in Gujarat today.

The event will see Mr Modi inaugurating a ferry service between Ghogha and Dahej around next weekend. The Congress has alleged that the Election Commission had deferred announcement of the date for assembly polls in Gujarat to ensure that PM's rally is held before the announcement of the polls. In the run-up to the Assembly election, Gujarat has witnessed announcements and foundation laying of infrastructure and social welfare projects worth at least Rs 12,500 crore in October alone.

Breaking away from tradition, the Election Commission did not announce Gujarat elections schedule along with Himachal Pradesh. Inauguration of a Rs 550 crore ferry service, Garib Kalyan Mela(Poor welfare fair) in district like Porbandar where in doles around Rs 1 crore for education bond, housing units, kits for self-employment are in the offering this in the next week.
