State Police fighting a proxy war: Deputy CM

JAMMU: Hailing the State Police for taking Pakistan-sponsored proxy war and terrorism head-on, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Sunday said the Jammu and Kashmir Police was playing a pivotal role in ensuring peace in the state.
Singh also showered compliments on the police personnel for upholding and enforcing law to protect the citizens of the state.
"The way police has taken the proxy war and terrorism head-on is appreciable. I congratulate the department for that," Deputy Chief Minister said. He said that police administration was playing a pivotal role in upholding and enforcing law to protect life, liberty, property, human rights and dignity of the common man. "The credit for ensuring peace in the state goes to police personnel, who have offered supreme sacrifices," said Singh while talking to media on the sidelines of two-day 'Diwali Mela', organized at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
The event was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir police wives welfare association.
The deputy chief minister also paid rich tributes to all the security personnel and civilians who lost their lives in the fight against terrorism.
Interacting with the policemen, Singh said such events play an important role in strengthening the police-public relationship, besides provide them a much-needed break from the monotonous routine and create positive and happy environment.
In what can be seen as the Diwali bonanza, Singh also launched a mobile phone application of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank which would help police personnel in getting a loan of up to Rs 20 lakh, through mPay and a dedicated phone line, an official spokesman said.
