Facing criticism from political and other sides, Banaras Hindu University has decided to hold a judicial inquiry into the lathicharge and other incidents in the campus between September 21 to 23.
BHU Vice-Chancellor G C Tripathi had last night announced a judicial inquiry through the chief proctor of the university report suggests that the assault on a girl student that sparked the protests was an instance of “eve-teasing”.
The university administration said here today that a retired justice of Allahabad High Court, V K Dixit, will conduct the inquiry.
BHU officials said the judicial inquiry will be for probing in the entire matter, including alleged incident of molestation of a girl student on September 21, the dharna in protest on September 22 and the alleged police violence on September 23.
However, the V-C has denied the reports of alleged lathicharge on girl students.
