Police arrest SBI head clerk for mortgaging bank jewellery

The Vijaywada police arrested SBI head clerk Krishna Chaitanya for mortgaging about 10 KG of gold jewellery of the bank in a private company. CID SP LKV Ranga Rao told media that Krishna Chaitanya was working as head clerk in Gayatri Nagar branch in the State Bank of India. He took away 10.2 kg gold mortgaged jewellery from the bank. He mortgaged the jewellery in a private company and took Rs 3 crore.

The manager of the branch found the missing of mortgaged jewellery and lodged a complaint the police. The police arrested the SBI clear and Phani Kumar of the private company for accepting the huge quantum of gold jewellery without asking proof. The ASP said there is no need to worry to the SBI clients, who mortgaged the jewellery with the SBI, as all the gold jewellery were recovered.
