Four killed in Ramban mishap

JAMMU: In a tragic event, two brothers were among the four persons killed on Wednesday when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a 400 feet deep gorge in Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar highway.
The heart-wrenching accident took place Wednesday noon around 2:35 pm when a Maruti Alto car bearing registration number JK02J-4519 fell into the deep gorge killing all the occupants on the spot. The ill-fated car was on its way to Jammu from Banihal side and had reached near Kela Morh when it spun out of the driver's control while negotiating a curve, the officials told.
The police immediately swung into action after hearing about the accident and launched rescue operation. However, all the four passengers had died on the spot.
Talking to The News Now, Additional District Development Commissioner Ramban Ravinder Nath Sadhu told that the deceased included two brothers besides two more persons.
"The deceased have been identified as Shamas Khan and Nazeer Ahmad , both sons of Haji Mirza Khan, resident of Gol Gujral, Sham Mohammad son of Altaf Din, resident of Gol Gujral and Shikyat Ali son of Kakoo, resident of Akhnoor," Sadhu said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the death of four persons in Ramban road accident while conveying her sympathies with the bereaved families.
The district authorities will announce the monetary relief in the form of Redcross fund for the next of kin of the deceased today, Additional DDC Ramban told.
