Sad | Another Child dies at SKIMS, courtesy ‘medical negligence

Srinagar : Police on Sunday started probe into the death of a two-year old boy due to alleged medical negligence at SKIMS Soura on Saturday evening

Muhammad Ibrahim the father of the child, Aleeya Ali said he was referred to SKIMS from GB Pant hospital here for

Tracheostomy. “A doctor started treatment without our consent. He even didn’t sign any document, prescription file, clinical history of the patient. He was without any medical equipment as was required for the procedure,” he alleged.

“Since my child’s death, the doctor is absconding. We have filed a complaint in concerned police station,” he added.

A paper singed and stamped by SKIMS senior resident doctor reads: “According to statement of the treating doctor in ward PICU, the doctor after doing the procedure on the patient namely Aleeya Ali R/o Shalimar is not traceable. According to the relatives, attendants of the patient, the concerned doctor has not taken consent from the parents nor has he briefed them about the procedure. The patient has expired in the ward PICU.”

SKIMS medical superintendent, Tabish Amin said “I was not aware about any such case.”

However, a senior police official said that “police have started investigation into the case under section 157 CrPc (Procedure for investigation preliminary inquiry).”
