Hindi Media lifts trophy, defeats Sterlite CC by 20 runs in the Final

Jammu, Aug 28: After 30 days of neck-to-neck tussle between the participating teams i.e. Media-XI Cricket Club, Jammu, Sterlite Cricket Club and Hindi Media Cricket Club, the Hindi Media Cricket Club on Sunday registered a remarkable 20 runs win against Sterlite Cricket Club in the final combat of the 1st Media-XI T-20 Tri- Angular Series organized by Media-XI Cricket Club Jammu. The finale was played at G G M Science College Ground, Jammu.
Earlier, Hindi Media CC led by Ashwani Kumar elected to bat first after winning the toss and posted 132 runs on scoreboard at the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 over.
Romi 44 runs off 27 balls remained the top scorer for Hindi Media CC, while Arun 28 runs off 38 balls was other top contributor to the total. For Sterlite CC Shakeel Ahmed with 3 wickets for 16 runs in his four over quota overs remained the pick of the bowlers whereas, Bablu also took 2 wickets by conceding 22 runs in four overs.
Later, Sterlite CC in their run chase had a decent start with openers Gourav 29 runs off 27 balls and Shakeel 17 runs of 26 balls put 40 runs on scoreboard in the six overs power play but could not capitalized as wickets kept on losing on regular interval. With 48 needed from 30 balls Sterlite failed to reach home as the team managed to post 113 runs, thus lost the match by 20 runs. Mukul 32 runs off 28 balls remained the top scorer for the Starlite CC.
For Hindi Media CC, Sunil remained the wrecker-in-chief with 4 wickets by conceding 15 runs in his four overs quota, while Ankush also took 2 wickets in his quota overs.
The finale witnessed the presence Sh. Sham Langer, Vice president Chamber of Commerce & Industries who was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
Miss Aditi Sharma, social activist and president Aditi Welfare India Charitable Trust (AWICT) and Miss Manjot Singh Kohli, National General Secretary Guard of Justice and Human Rights District Director (Udhampur) were the Guests of Honour on this occasion.
Chief Guest on the occasion Sham Langer distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion. Who was in all praise for the Media-XI Cricket Club for organizing the tri-angular series to promote Sports culture. “Cricket is itself very popular game across the globe and a best medium to motivate youth to put their energies in the right way and shine high in sports” he said. “Drug addiction is a silent killer which has already established roots in the our society and our youth are most vulnerable to it we need to handle them with utmost awareness and Sports is the best way forward” he concluded.
Aditi Sharma while appreciating the efforts of the Media-XI cricket Club in fighting drug menace said, “such an effort in the interest of society need to be appreciated by one and all, it is the best constructive way to chanelise the energy of our youth in the right direction” she added.
Manjot Singh Kohli speaking on the occasion said, “Media has always been a right medium towards the welfare of society, they have proved it yet again by organizing ‘Ist Media-XI T-20 Tri-angular Series’ in fight against the uprising drug menace and to promote the sports cultutre among the youth, who needs to be nurtured with right approach, " she said. We hope Media XI Cricket Club will organize and support more such initiatives in the larger interest of the society, she added.
Sunil was declared as man of the Match for his all round performance in the match beside he was also adjudged as the best batsman of the Series, while Taqdeer Singh Badal from Hindi media was declared as Highest wicket taker of the series. The winners were presented with trophies.
Sachin Singh, Amit Kumar, Rahul Khatri and Aquib were the field umpires for the Series.
