Sham Choudhary lunches plantation drive, road work in Jammu

JAMMU, AUGUST 14: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today launched a plantation drive here at Jal Bhawan Narwal- a major PHE installation.
The Minister directed the engineers of the department to conduct regular plantation drives in their respective sub divisions for extending the green cover in the state. Plantation helps to check climate change and improve the tree canopy of the neighbourhood and state, he added.
Later, the Minister also started the construction work of 4.5 KM Badyal Brahmana to cremation ground road to be constructed by PWD (R&B) at an estimated cost of Rs. 55 lakh under NABARD.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government is working hard to ensure development of all the regions of the state especially rural and far-off pockets. He said that several developmental projects have been completed and more are in pipeline to give fillip to the development in the state.
The Minister said the Government has taken various steps for the welfare of the common people and that special emphasis is laid on the uplift of women, farmers and weaker sections of the society. He called upon the people to take maximum benefit of the state and centrally sponsored schemes including AASRA, State Marriage Assistance Scheme, Ladli Beti and various other social welfare schemes.
Senior functionaries of PHE, PWD (R&B) and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
