Over a dozen youth injured during clashes in Shopian; two sustain bullet injuries

Srinagar: Over a dozen youth were injured during clashes with government forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Sunday following the killing of three militants in an overnight gunfight.

Two army men were also killed in the firefight that began last night in Awneera village of Zainapora area of the district.

Twelve youth who had sustained injuries during clashes were admitted to CHC Zainapora where from two with bullet injuries and one with pellet injuries in eyes were referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.
One of the youth with bullet injury was identified as Sareer Ahmad Bhat of Shermal. He was referred to SMHS hospital from CHC Zainapora, said a health official.

Meanwhile, villagers alleged that forces ransacked their houses in Awneera, Zainapora and adjacent areas.
