Security Forces launch search op in north Kashmir, 2 policemen injured

Security forces today launched a search operation in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, where two policemen were injured in militant firing, official sources said. They said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police and CRPF launched a joint search operation in Hajan area of Bandipora district following tip off about the presence of militants.

As the security forces were sealing two villages, the militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons during which two policemen, identified as Mukhtar Ahmad and Mohammad Ashraf, were injured, they said, adding that security forces also retaliated. Search operation was going on when the reports last came in, they said, adding that reports said that there are two to three militants holed up in the area. Meanwhile, additional security forces have been rushed there to further tighten the cordon in the area to prevent any demonstration.
