Traders' body holds protest in Srinagar's commercial hub Lal Chowk against attempts to abrogate Article 35-A.
A complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley against a plea in the Supreme Court seeking abrogation of Article 35-A which confers special rights on J&K’s permanent residents.The call for shutdown was issued by Joint Resistance Leadership against “assault” on state’s special status and “efforts” to abrogate Article 35-A.In summer capital Srinagar, all shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads.

Security has been beefed and police have sounded an alert across Kashmir to thwart possible militant strikes on August 15.
