JAMMU: A female contractual doctor on Thursday submitted a written complaint to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) against Director Health Services Jammu and Medical Superintendent District Hospital Samba regarding misbehavior and harassment with her in the office.
The complainant, Dr Suruchi Gupta, a contractual doctor and M.S. Ophthalmology working as a consultant NPCB at Samba district, informed while talking to The News Now, “I have written the letter to PMO after running from pillar to post as I was suffering from the problem of work place misconduct by my seniors.”
The Doctor said that after completing her six months in the office she was told to send her performance report. When she submitted her report, it was informed that based on her good performance, she will get her renewal order for one year soon and till that time she continued working at the same place at the same position.
Dr Suruchi, in her written complaint against Dr Gurjeet Singh, Director Health and Dr Dimple Singh, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Samba, wrote to PMO, “Sir, I continued at the same place for two months, meanwhile I continuously used to ask Director Health Services for my renewal order and I was told every time that you will get it soon. After two months I was suddenly called to the office and I was told to either join Udhampur, Poonch or Rajouri or your contract would be terminated. In the mean time my medical superintendant started threatening me that she would ask for the discontinuation of my services at the station after laying wrong accusations on me.”
She added in the complaint a copy of which is also sent to Governor and Chief Minister of J&K, “I could not really understand what’s happening, suddenly. She (Medical Superintendant) even told me that I have been appointed by a group of people and sent to this station without her consent. Even I got to know sir that the post on which I am working was initially planned for some other influential candidate in mind and no one had expected that I would also come for the interview.”

The complainant doctor said, “Mine being a contractual post is not transferrable and moreover being a married female with small kid to sustain, I told them that it would not be able for me to join that station and requested them to let me continue at the same station while they can transfer anybody else there in my place. They harassed and misbehaved verbally with me a number of times.”

“But sir, not listening to my request they handed over me the termination order on 3rd of July,” Dr Suruchi informed, adding after that she also approached and met Health Minister of J&K, Bali Bhagat on July 25, 2017, but he had marked the letter of complaint to the Director Health only, as the complaint was too against him.

When contacted by The News Now, Director Health, Jammu, Dr Gurjeet Singh narrated altogether a different story. He said, “It is nothing like this and She (Dr Suruchi) was not performing well in the office. She is also running her own clinic at Vijaypur and she is pressurizing Dr Dimple Singh, not to transfer her.”
