Rs 2.93 lakh fine imposed for illegal power connections

REASI, JULY 27: A fine of Rs. 2.93 lakh was imposed on the power defaulters and for illegal power connections at Katra town during a series of inspections and raids conducted by a joint team constituted for the purpose.
The team comprised of Tehsildar Katra Mohit Raina, SDPO Ashok Sharma, SHO Katra, AEEs and JEs of PDD.
The targeted areas included Bus stand, main bazaar, Kun, Panthal, Kotli Bajalan etc where door to door visits were conducted to check the power thefts and consumption of illegal power.
During the visit, out of total 129 connections, 41 were regularized.
The officials of PDD informed that with this exercise, 134 KW load has been regularized which will certainly improve the power supply besides rationalizing power distribution system in the district.
Similar, inspections are also being carried out at Pouni, Reasi, Mahore, Arnas, Dharmari and other areas to prevent power thefts and other illegal modes of consuming power.
