Jammu, JULY 27: In a Public Interest Litigation regarding filed by Young lawyer Irtiza Mushtaq highlighting the dilapidated condition Amphalla-New Plot-Janipur Road, A Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjeev Kumar after hearing Advocates Arshad Majid Malik and Rahul Raina, issued notice to Commissioner/Secretary, PWD (R&B), Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) and CEO ERA returnable within four weeks.
In the PIL it has been submitted that the petitioner is going to highlight the lackadaisical/casual approach of the respondents in not repairing/renovating/blacktopping the significant New Plot-Janipur Road leading to the J&K High Court for the last several months. The said road is the only approach road from B.C. Road Jammu towards Janipur and the same is in dilapidated condition because of digging by the respondents and other governmental agencies. The said road is having numerous path holes and debris lying throughout which is causing inconvenience to the public and besides this there is air/environmental pollution due to emanating of dust from the debris lying on the road. That the entire legal fraternity including the Judges of the State High Court and Subordinate Courts utilize the said road for reaching upto the Courts Complex but the present condition of the road presents a very dismal picture and not only this road the similar is the fate of other city roads which are crying for macadamization and it has become a routine for the authorities to go for digging after every 3 to 4 months in the name of sewerage or other works but after digging, the roads are left in the same condition and similar is the position of New Plot-Janipur Road which is the only approach road to the High Court of J&K.
It is further submitted that due to present condition of the road there are frequent traffic jams and the scorching heat nowadays add more to the miseries of the general public including Lawyers and Judges. JNF
