‘Munna Bhai’ caught during JKBOSE exam, 10K charged for proxy

JAMMU: A "Munna Bhai MBBS" style case today surfaced in 10th standard (Bi-annual) examination conducted by J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) in Samba district, where a R.S. Pura based person was caught taking the exams on behalf of a student.
The accused namely Gurdeep Singh, a private tutor, son of Yashpal Singh of Keerpind, R.S. Pura, came to examiner's notice during the checking of Roll Number slip issued by the JKBOSE authorities.
According to official sources, a case in this connection has been registered on the basis of the complaint lodged by Headmaster of Government High School Sujwan.
Sources further said that the accused was taking the Science exam when the Superintendent of Examinations along with his staff members conducted visit to the examination centre and during checking of the Roll Number slip i.e., 6512167, he found that someone else was taking the exam as proxy. The Roll Number slip was issued in the name of Rajinder Singh, son of Mittarpal Singh of Burj Tanda, Supwal, they said.
A complaint in this connection was lodged with the Supwal Police, following which a Police team led by SHO Supwal, Neeraj Kumar secured the arrest of the accused person.
Later, during questioning, the accused told Police that he charged Rs. 10,000 from the candidate for taking exams on his behalf.
