President Mukherjee to address nation today

President Pranab Mukherjee will address the nation this evening on the eve of demitting office. The address will be broadcast from 1930 hours on the national network of All India Radio (AIR) and telecast over all channels of Doordarshan in English followed by Hindi versions, a Rashtrapati Bhavan source said here. Broadcast of the address in English and Hindi on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan, it said.

Veteran parliamentarian Mr Mukherjee had taken over as 13th President in 2012. Members of Parliament of both Houses bid him farewell at a grand ceremony in the Central Hall of Parliament yesterday. President Mukherjee had first entered Parliament as a member of Rajya Sabha in July 1969. New President elect Ram Nath Kovind is likely to be sworn in tomorrow, July 25.
