People on banks of river Krishna warned to move to safer places

Authorities have warned people living on the banks of river Krishna to move to safer places as there is possibility of heavy discharge of water due to increase in inflow. Sources said that though there is respite in South West Monsoon rain since the last two days there is heavy discharge of water from Maharashtra dams. Due to incessant rains in Maharashtra and in Belagavi district three houses were totally damaged and 85 houses partially damaged.
Six bridges and barrages were inundated in Chikodi, Bailhongal, Gokak, Raibag, Ramdurg, Hukkeri, Belagavi and Khanappur talukas while a road in Chikale village of Khanapur taluk has been completely washed away, official sources said. Maharashtra has released 2,40,000 cusecs of water from Rajapur barrage and 1,67,000 cusecs water from Hipparagi barrage. Sources said that 23,798 cusecs of water inflow to Hidkal dam, 2,010 cusecs inflow to Dupdal dam and 2,176 cusecs to Malaprabha dam.
