Iraqi Foreign Minister to arrive India tomorrow on five-day visit

Foreign Minister of Iraq Dr Ibrahim Al-Eshaiker Al-Jafari will arrive India tomorrow on a five-day visit. According to official sources here, the visiting Minister will have a meeting with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tomorrow. Later in the day, Mr Jafari will meet Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The visiting dignitary will call on Vice-President Hamid Ansari later in the day. During his stay in India, Mr Jafari will also visit Mumbai, sources said. He will leave for Iraq on July 28, Friday, the sources added. This is the first visit of a senior Iraqi dignitary after terrorist-held Mosul was recaptured by Iraqi forces. It may be mentioned here that the Minister of State for External Affairs Gen VK Singh (Retd) traveled to Erbil and Baghdad earlier this month after Mosul was recaptured by Iraqi forces. Gen Singh's visit was in connection with the 39 missing Indians.
