Damaged transformers pester consumers in Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH,JULY 22: People are up in arms against power development department (PDD) in Sultanpura and Iqbal Colony area of Bhaderwah for continuous power outages due to damaged transformers.The local alleged that department is adopting delaying tactics in repairing the defunct transformers and restoring electricity and also alleged that the transformer of their locality went defunct two times in past some months leaving the people reeling under darkness.“We many a times requested PDD authorities to replace the low capacity transformer of the Sultanpura with a high one, so that it can bear the load of the all households of the 150 households but all in vain as our pleas fell on deaf ears,” Saleem Ganai a local said.“First time the transformer went defunct some months back this year and after that officials repaired the transformer and installed it in the locality but after functioning just one month it developed some technical snag and went defunct. People again took the transformer to the workshop, there officials took dozens of days to repair the transformer. But after functioning for a one month again , now transformer went defunct second time,” said Arif Hussain , Jaffar Ganai ,Abdul Latief and others of the area . Locals said that during the past four month they have received electricity for only two months but are made to pay the full electricity bills by the PDD.They demanded that their transformer should be replaced with a high capacity transformer so that it can bear the load of the village.“If our transformer is not repaired for once we shall be forced to take to the streets,” said the locals.Despite repeated attempts, Executive Engineer PDD Doda could not be contacted for his comments.
