The Aam Aadmi Party government today increased the salary of anganwadi workers and helpers, days after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal assured them to look into their matter. Mr Kejriwal informed about the salary hike through a tweet. "Cabinet increases honorarium, anganwadi workers to Rs 9,678 and helpers to Rs 4,839. Also mobile/net charges will be Rs 500 and Rs 250 per month respectively," the Chief Minister said.

Mr Kejriwal had assured anganwadi workers last week that their salaries would be raised within a week. The Chief Minister gave this assurance after he met large number of workers at his residence here, who raised various issues, including hike in their salaries. "Wait for a week or so, you are going to get a salary hike and that too a handsome percentage. We are here for you and will take care of everything," Mr Kejriwal said to the workers during their interaction with him.
