Dowry death: Women burnt alive in Etawah

A woman was allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws in the Friend Colony in the city over dowry. Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) Rajesh Kumar said here today that as per the pre-death statement recorded on camera, by the victim Sapna(26), she was burnt by her father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and husband yesterday morning.

Later in the evening, she died at the Saifai medical college university. The statement of the victim says that she was married to one Subhash Yadav one-and-a-half-year back and immediately after the marriage they started demanded Rs 2 lakhs in cash and jewelry. When their demand were not met ,yesterday, they poured kerosene and burnt her.

One of neighbours, who heard her screams, came and informed the police and ambulance. First she was taken to the district hospital and then to the Saifai hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, all the accused escaped and police has launched a manhunt to nab them after lodging a FIR.
