Body of boy washed away still untraced

Jammu: The body of the 7-year old Samrat, who was washed away in the flash floods which hit Kishtwar on Thursday, is yet to be recovered even as the search operation continues, in the region.
Samrat, resident of Cherji village in Dool area of Kishtwar was a victim of the deluge that wrecked havoc in various parts of the region, claiming 8 lives and injuring 12 people besides heavy loss of property and livestock. Samrat, along with her grandmother, was washed away in the floods triggered by the cloudburst early morning on Thursday, but his body couldn't be traced by search teams.
The operations in search of boy's body continued for the second day as well but to no avail till the evening. When contacted by The News Now, Ghulam Nabi Balwan, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar said, "The SDRF search team attempted to locate the body of the boy today also but couldn't find it," adding that the operations would continue on Saturday as well.
Meanwhile, the district administration has sanctioned the compensation amount for the Next of Kin (NoK) towards the victims of Thursday's tragedy, to the tune of Rs 4 lakh each under State Disaster Relief Fund and 1 Lakh rupees each under Red Cross CM Release Fund.
"The compensation amount has been sanctioned and would be handed over to the NoK of the deceased in a couple of days," DC Kishtwar said.
