28 people including 6 Kathua labourers die as bus plunges into gorge

Jammu:Six people from Bani in district Kathua were among twenty eight persons who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh today. At least 28 people were killed and several others injured after a private bus fell into gorge near Rampur in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday morning. As per the reports, the bus carrying 40 passengers was travelling to Reckong Peo (Kinnaur) from Solan when it met with the accident at around 9:15 am on National Highway 5 near Rampur, around 120 kilometres from the state capital Shimla.
Reports said that the ill-fatted bus which was carrying around 40 passengers on National Highway 5 connecting Simla to Kinnaur, rolled down around 200 metres towards the bank of the Sutlej River.
Pall of gloom descended at Bani after the reports of bus accident claiming lives of six people from Bani flashed in the area.
Six locals who were killed in the accident have been identified as Hans Raj son of Hari Lal of Bandhghat, Ravinder son of Chandu of Bandhghat, Udho Ram son of Khem Das of Chandal, Mulkh Raj son of Khem Dass of Chandal, Tilk Raj son of Achro of Chandal and Madan Lal son of Bishan Dass of Bandhghat.
Police said that they were working as labourers in Himachal Pradesh and were sitting in the ill fated bus.
Meanwhile, MLA Bani-Jewan Lal has expressed shock and grief over the death of six persons from his constituency. The MLA also assured free transport service to bring the bodies from Himachal Pradesh for their last rites.
