Lauds District Admin for carrying out timely rescue and relief operations along LoC

RAJOURI, JULY 20: The Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli today called upon the District Administration to closely monitor the performance of all district and sectoral officers so that time bound delivery of services and completion of projects of public importance could be ensured.
He was speaking in two consecutive meetings of General Public and district and sectoral officers at Kalakote and Chingus. The public raised a range of issues pertaining to various departments. Minister gave patient hearing to the public and passed on spot directions for early redressal of their grievances. The officers present in the meeting, informed the public about the work done and the latest status of various public interest projects in the area.
The locals demanded early completion of widening and macadamization of Rajouri-Kalakote road, widening of Kalakote-Siote road, construction of Narian to Digyana road, augmentation of power and water supply system, introduction of science stream in Govt. Degree college Kalakote, providing standard medicines in the areas besides effective implementation of MG-NREGA, Social Security Schemes and other Self Employment Schemes.
Responding to various queries regarding liabilities under MGNREGA, ACD Rajouri informed the locals that the liability would be cleared soon as Rs. 4.10 crores have already been released for the Kalakote block.
Kohli said the funds under MGNREGA should be utilized in a planned manner to create tangible assets of public utility adding that the culverts and small bridges in far off areas should be taken up for construction on priority under the scheme to enhance the connectivity in rural areas besides providing easy passage for pedestrians.
On the occasion, the minister called upon the district administration to closely monitor the performance of all district and sectoral officers to ensure time bound delivery of services and completion of projects of public importance.
Kohli directed the district heads of various departments to conduct regular meetings and on spot inspections to ensure timely completion of projects. He further asked them to keep public informed about various ongoing projects and involve them in decision making on grass root level. He said the government is committed to ease the lives of the common masses by providing public services to them at their door steps and asked the officers to be part of the mission by working tirelessly on ground to make lives of those people easy and convenient who are living in far flung and hilly areas.
The minister informed that public that Rs. 1.36 crores out of CDF has been expended to augment the power supply in the regions and directed executive engineer PDD to electrify the left out areas and ensure power supply to these areas in shortest possible time.
Taking a serious note of non-availability of teaching staff in some schools, he asked the Chief Education Officer to rationalize the posting of teaching staff in all the schools in the district so as to ensure that no student suffer due to lack of teaching staff.
While referring to the vast stretches of fertile land in the regions of Kalakote and Chingus, he directed the officers of Horticulture department to ensure that high yielding fruit crops are planted in these areas for economic welfare of the residents.
Mr. Kohli complimented the district administration for carrying out rescue and relief operations for the shelling effected persons along the LOC areas of Nowshera and Manjakote.
Earlier, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, district development commissioner Rajouri informed the meeting that District Administration has set up 120 revenue and medical Camps were organized during past one month throughout the district and 15000 certificates of different nature were issued at the door step of public.
"A transparent and accountable administration would be ensured for the residents of this border district", he said adding the general masses are being given proper awareness about various developmental, self employment and social security schemes in the field Camps.
He also gave out that about 100 building-less schools in the district would be provided buildings under project Tameer of the district administration and such schools in these areas would get accommodation within next 6 months.
The meeting was attended by all the district heads of various departments and other senior officers of the district.
