Jammu: The administration of J&K Wrestling Association has turned out to be quite a battle for Forest Minister and SP Security as the duo staked claim to be the president of the Association.
While the Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh was chosen unanimously as president of All J&K Wrestling Association by the J&K Sports Council, the SP Security Dushant Sharma was elected as president of the Association by the Wrestling Federation of India and J&K Olympic Association, only a week later.
However, the matter which has become a hot topic in the political and police circle of state has finally landed in the court of Raj Kumar Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, J&K as the minister has lodged a complaint that SP Dushant Sharma being a government employee did not stake claim as Association's president.
A major controversy had erupted in the J&K Wrestling Association following the unanimous election of SP Dushyant Sharma as President of the Association for the next term of four years, with Ajay Vaid and Raju Sharma elected as General Secretary and Treasurer of the Association, respectively. The Election in this connection was conducted at Amar Singh Club on 16th of July 2017 with V.S Prasood, General Secretary, Wrestling Federation of India, D.D Mangotra, President, J&K Olympic Association and Prof. Ashtosh Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Olympic Association present in the meeting as Observers.
This election was conducted a week after State Sports Council's election in which Forest Minister Lal Singh was elected the Association's President unanimously. The other members elected to form the new team of office bearers of the sports organization were Rakesh Khajuria as General Secretary and RK Men as Treasurer.
Shiv Sharma, Joint Secretary Sports Council, when contacted, confirmed to The News Now that a complaint against the SP Dushyant Sharma has been filed with the Home Secretary by the Minister Lal Singh. Admitting that SP Dushyant's election has weightage, being elected by the Wrestling Federation of India as those wrestlers who play under him would have easy access to the National level competition, Shiv Sharma informed that those playing under the leadership of minister would be provided all types of facilities, funds for them to be provided by the Sports Council of state.
