Multiple funerals held for slain Lashkar militants in Awantipora, Kakapora Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised during the funeral of Majid and Shariq in Kakapora and Sheeraz Ahmad in Padgampora area of Awantipora.
Srinagar: Multiple funerals were held on Thursday for three militants killed in a gunfight with government forces in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised during the funeral of Majid and Shariq in Kakapora and Sheeraz Ahmad in Padgampora area of Awantipora.
Three rounds of funeral prayers were held for Sheeraz at Jamia Masjid Awantipora and his ancestral Aghazipora village located across the Jhelum river.
In Kakapora, joint funeral prayers were held for Majid and Shariq.
Also, Traffic was suspended on Kashmir highway at Awantipora on Thursday after massive protests erupted following the killing of three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants.
One of the militants, Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat, was a resident of Padgampora village of Awantipora.
Thousands of people, including women and children, have assembled in the village to take part in last rites of the slain militant.
