J&K Congress stays away from Iftar hosted by CM Mehbooba

Jammu, Jun 18: Staying away from an Iftar party hosted by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, in view of the ongoing holy month of Ramadan, the state Congress today said that there was no fun in hosting an Iftar party when policemen were sacrificing their lives for the nation while fighting terrorism.

"Six policemen sacrificed their lives, while fighting terrorism and the Chief Minister was hosting an Iftar. What a mockery," Ravinder Sharma, Chief Spokesperson of JKPCC, here told UNI.

"We have stayed away from the occasion because it is time to express grief," he added. "This is unacceptable," Jugal Kishore, former Minister and senior Congress leader said. He wondered how the Chief Minister could host an Iftar when security personnel were sacrificing their lives while fighting terrorism. "BJP leaders have no time to attend the wreath laying ceremony, but were very much present during an Iftar party," Mr Sharma said.

Speaker Kavinder Gupta and MLA Rajesh Gupta represented BJP, Ministers Zulfikar Choudhary and Abdul Haq Khan represented PDP during the Iftar hosted by Ms Mufti here tonight.
