Actor from Jammu conferred with a prestigious National Award

Jammu, May 28: A Jammu youth has been awarded with country’s prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Sangeet Natak Academy Award. Actor Vikrant Sharma has been conferred this year’s National Bismillah Khan Yuva Sangeet Natak Academy Award in the field of Acting, a handout issued here said.

The handout said that the actor has created a history for being the first actor from the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the post-Independence period who is being honored with this National recognition.

Born in 1978 to GC Sharma and Satya Sharma, Mr Vikrant started his journey in the year 1990 as a child artist in the play ‘Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’ written and directed by noted theaterist Balwant Thakur. The actor however, known to the World from his lead role in the Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ as hero which vibrated the world for his most outstanding performance.

His memorable performances in ‘Ghumayee’ got standing ovation Internationally in Russia and Germany. Mr Vikrant had acted in more than 70 plays in last 27 years
