JK Youth possess immense potential, proved mettle in academics, co-curricular activities: Priya Sethi

JAMMU, MAY 27- Highlighting the importance of adopting new technological methods for imparting education, Minister of State for School Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture & Parks Priya Sethi said that various steps have been taken by the Government for all round development of students.
Speaking at the 17th edition of the school magazine ‘Sahitya Sarita’ Volume XVII 2017 release-cum-Prize distribution function of Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Mubarak Mandi here, Priya Sethi, who was the chief guest on the occasion said that there was no dearth of talent among the students of the State, adding that in the last couple of years the youth of the State have proved their worth at various National level exams.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Kumar was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Emphasizing on children's overall development in curriculum and extracurricular activities, she asked education authorities to not to allow children to crowd private functions that hamper their own academic activities. She added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programmes and policies like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” are quite relevant and are aimed at giving women a dignified life.
She said that union government has successfully completed three years of governance and flagship programmes initiated by it have fetch good results for the society. She added that both state and central governments are spending liberally to ensure better education system in State and also build infrastructure that matches good standards.
She said the Mubarak Mandi Girls Higher Secondary School is one of the best schools of the region and through joint efforts of staff and students the school has shown exemplary results over the years.
Underlining commitment of the government to upgrade the school infrastructure, Priya Sethi said the government has already started the concept of model school in the State. She said Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Mubarak Mandi and Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School are amongst those schools included in the list of Model Schools and work on equipping these schools with required infrastructure like additional class rooms, laboratories and other facilities is in progress. She also highlighted the increase of literacy rate in various districts of the State especially Poonch and Rajouri.
Asking the students for massively taking part in cultural and sports activities, the Minister said that active participation in sports and cultural activities is a pre requisite for a harmonious development.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the school management for good results in the last exams.
Director School Education Ravinder Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the department.
Earlier, the function started with lighting of traditional lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Principal of the school Neelam Gandotra welcomed the dignitaries on the occasion and presented annual report listing the activities of the school, besides the performance of the students in various curricular and co-curricular activities during the year 2016-17.
On the occasion, the students of the school presented a colorful cultural programme which included Dogri, Kashmiri and Ladakhi song and dance which enthralled and mesmerized the gathering.
The students of the School who have excelled in recent Board Examinations were also felicitated by the chief guest on the occasion.
Later, the dignitaries distributed prizes among the meritorious students.
Sarvadaman Kumar, Sr. Lecturer in History presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
