Zulfkar visits Media Complex Jammu; Takes stock of functioning of Information Department

‘Calls for professional, technological interventions for quick, effective information dissemination’

JAMMU, MAY 27: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today visited Media Complex here to take first-hand appraisal of the functioning of the Department of Information and Public Relations.
Secretary Information, M H Malik, Director Information and PR, Dr Arun Manhas, Joint Director Information Jammu, Manisha Sarin, Deputy Director Information (HQ) Jammu, Priyanka Bhat, Deputy Director Information (PR) Jammu, Avleen Kour and other officers of the department were present on the occasion.
The Minister inspected various sections of the department and interacted with the staff. He directed the concerned for proper maintenance of official records with suitable technological interventions towards digitalization and modernization.
The Minister stressed on exploring digital media platform as a potential source of information dissemination owing to its wider reach and real-time communication. The Minister said that new technological advancements should be tapped to keep pace with the paradigm shift in new era of journalism.
Choudhary Zulfkar Ali further emphasized on effectively capturing and highlighting the developmental aspects of various welfare initiatives undertaken by the Government.
“The department by creating synergy between its various wings can diversify functioning and undertake new initiatives to promote art and culture of the state besides generating awareness,” he said and added that the department should optimally utilize its resources to reach out to the people with the welfare schemes and programmes for their better implementation.
The Minister also directed to hold regular “Photo Exhibitions” in the State based on various themes showcasing the various aspects of the state.
The Minister also stressed on better human resource management in the department. He said the Department would be further strengthened through enhancement in professional human resource and infrastructure to ensure prompt and timely information dissemination. He also reviewed the functioning of the Advertisement Wing of the Department and called for judicious distribution of advertisements.
