Industrial activities at standstill in bari brahmana industrial complex due to frequent power failures

TNN Bureau. Updated: 5/26/2017 4:43:16 PM Press Release

Jammu, May 26: A meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) was held under the President ship of Sh. Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Sh. Suresh Mahajan, Sr. Vice President, Sh. Varun Singla Vice President, Sh. Ajay Langer General Secretary, Sh. Vivek Singhal Secretary and Sh. Viraaj Malhotra Treasurer BBIA & other members.
The members present in the meeting raised serious concern as Power Development Department has failed to supply 24 hours Uninterrupted Power to Industrial Sector for the reasons best known to the Department resulting in Standstill of the Industrial Activities in the Complex since long due to which the Industrial Units are suffering huge financial losses.
In spite of repeated reminders to the Concerned Chief Engineers, no action has been taken by the Department to restore the 24 Hours Uninterrupted Power Supply to the Industrial Sector, as announced by the Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister, which shows the casual attitude of the Department towards the Industrial Sector which is working in spite of all the odds.
All is not well at present, as the units located in the Bari Brahmana Industrial Area are suffering very badly due to unscheduled power curtailment resulting disturbance in the production process.
Whenever we contacted the concerned officials to know the reasons for the frequent breakdowns in the Power Supply, the lame excuses always given by the Department that due to Overheating of the Transformers, Old and Obsolete equipments at Grid Stations/ Receiving Station, the Breakdown has Occurred.
It is a matter of great resentment amongst the Members that the Department has failed to provide the requisite funds for the Repair and Maintenance of the Gird/Receiving Station at Bari Brahmana in spite of the fact that Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex is contributing Rs. 140 Crores annually for the power supply to the Industrial units and if the Department spends One percent of the Revenue for the Repair and Maintenance of the Stations, the same can be easily recovered supplying the Power on regular basis.
BBIA appeals to the Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh who is our Power Minister also & Hon’ble Industries & Commerce Minister Sh. Chander Prakash with a humble request kindly intervene into the matter & issue immediate orders for the restoration of 24 hours Uninterrupted Power Supply to the Industrial Sector of Bari Brahmana & also issue necessary instruction to provide requisite funds for the Repair and Maintenance of the Grid/Receiving Stations with the replacement of Old Infrastructure to resolve the issue on priority basis.
