Sunil Sharma discusses Batote-Kishtwar road upgradation with NHIDCL, NHAI

NEW DELHI, APRIL 25 - Minister of State for Transport and PWD, Sunil Sharma today convened a joint meeting of R&B Department, National Highway Authority India (NHAI) and National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) here to discuss upgradation of Batote-Kishtwar Road.
During the meeting, the Minister discussed the condition of road with the concerned officers and asked for immediate stabilization of slopes to check frequent slides, construction of drain along the road, installation of road crash barriers, construction of parapets, display of necessary & cautionary road signs.
The meeting held threadbare discussions on the issues taken up and chalked out a plan to overcome the same within best possible time.
The Joint inspection team of NHIDCL (National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd) and Public works Department will visit the area on April 27 to assess the damage to the road and would chalk out a plan.
National Highway Authority of Indian (NHAI) has also agreed for including the road stretch along Ganpat Bridge connecting the Main road to National Highway. He said work on alternate route will be started soon which is being used by the commuters to travel on foot to avoid the slide prone area.
The Minister desired that road upgradation should be started soon to avoid any further loss to precious lives and property. “As a people representative, this is my duty to resolve their issues and the better road connectivity is what the people of the area needed”, Sunil Sharma said.
